A TIMELESS DEVOTION

         - Surjit Dhami

The morning spoke of the night before

The wind gusted near the silky shore

The sunlight reflected on mountain peaks

The raindrops on the ground had taken seat

The stars glistened towards the stillness of the moon

The colour of the sky velvet blue radiant as in June

All halted to bow before my beloved

The seas prayed in waves to bathe his Holy lotus feet

All the trees yearned to give shade wherever he rested

To Him the birds sang sweetly of the joy he elated.

The rocks were placed to await Him forever more.

It is only the human being that is ignorant

Of my beloved that is beloved to all
