Time

We could either have a lot of it or not enough of it depending on the point of view we take.  When trying to make money, attending entertainment events, or going on vacation, we seem not to have enough time.  In contrast, when trying to fulfill a spiritual life, we assume that we have a lot of time.

We state that we have a lifetime to become more religious or improve our lives to follow the path that our Lord Master has laid out for us.  Babaji has asked us to commit very little time to renew our spiritual life by doing Sangat once a week, Simran each day and Seva whenever possible.  This commitment of time is not much when compared to the time taken by many religious people the world over, when they engage in acts of worship in accordance with their respective beliefs.

We would think that with all the luxuries and comforts surrounding us during this era compared to decades and centuries ago that we would find time to become more spiritual.  Instead, greed for money and more luxury keeps us busy in this secular world.

History, which is the passage of time, should have taught us great lessons.  Yet it seems like we have not.  When great prophets like Jesus Christ, Guru Nanak, Mohammed were living, people stoned and cursed them.  After they left this world, people continued to pray for their return and leadership.

We are lucky to have gotten God-knowledge (Gyan) from a true and living Lord Master, yet we do not feel fortunate enough to find time to improve our lifestyles or follow his teachings.  As youngsters, we may feel that we have a lot of time before we need to understand and implement Baba Ji’s message.  In reality, if we do not start now, we will find it harder to find time to adapt to his desired lifestyle later in life.

After attaining God Knowledge, we should attempt to put every effort into improving our spiritual life and implementing it in our daily lifestyle.  We need to make the time, because time will not stop for us.  I think the following saying will summarise how important time is to our spiritual life:

“People who tend to find God at the 11th hour,

die at 10:30.”
