THE NEED FOR DIVINE INSIGHT
- Vishy Sandhu, Scotland
Today if we take a glance at the outer world, people are searching for peace and satisfaction of mind, but are unable to attain it. As much as they are gaining worldly things day by day their vanity is increasing at the same pace. The reason; they do not know who is giving them these worldly things.
A man thinks that he is the most powerful on this earth and that’s why he is not satisfied with his own things. He can be peaceful only when he will come to know that which is more powerful than him. That’s why, whatever the age, past present or future there will always be a need for Divine Insight.
After obtaining this insight, man realizes that Almighty God is the source of all things. He comes to know that he is nothing in front of God. Vanity vanishes at once and eternal peace takes it’s place. Due to this revelation he will always pray to God. His vision and prayer that “I can do nothing but you enable me to do everything.” Then his state of mind becomes such as is described in the sacred Avtar Bani:
“GURSIKH DA BASITNA KARTAV APPA ARPAN KAR DEVE
KAHE AVTAAR GURU DA KAM HAI KHALI JHOLI BHAR DEVE”
The Devotee has one duty to dispense with his ego and the work of the divine teacher is to fulfill an empty life.
The duty of a true follower is to submit in front of his Lord and Spiritual Guide Baba Avtar Singh Ji tells us in the above verse that it them becomes the Lord’s duty to empower him with fulfillment. Therefore, the devotee completely submits himself to God Almighty.
Life’s complexities are a lock and the Spiritual Guide is the key to open it. Such a guide shares a revelation of God with each human being who comes to him. This sharing is the path to salvation – it is the grace of the Spiritual Guide which pulls a seeker out of the cycle of birth and death. That is the sole purpose of our lives. It is written in the sacred scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaja;
“JIS WAKKHAR KO LAIN TU AEYA”
“You have come to this world to achieve something.”
But man is lost in worldly things. By giving preference to these things, he forgets God. Saints always give an example of a couple who join in wedlock together. During the special day, the bridegroom is shown much respect within Indian culture. He eats different types of tasty foods, dances and generally enjoys everything. But what would happen if at the end of the day he left the banquet hall alone? When he reaches his home, we can well imagine how he would be welcomed. He would be shouted at by all! The very purpose of the day was to marry and return home with the bride. Yet, the distracted bridegroom has returned empty-handed. But, if he completes the day as expected and returns home in the company of his bride, he will be welcomed with great celebration and joy. He will have completed his prime task.
The same thing is going to happen with us too after this life. We’ll be asked whether we have done our work. Did we make room for God in our lives? Did we achieve the knowledge of God? Then we know whether we’ll be welcomed or not. The Spiritual Guide is blessing all humanity today. Whosoever comes to him and asks for divine understanding, he bestows this blessing on him without hesitation.
We are reminded of the great words in Holy Bible to seek, knock and ask – in the asking everything shall be given. Let all human beings who have not achieved this Divine Insight at least knock once! Let us all complete this task so that we may have satisfaction and peace in our lives and enjoys bliss.
