Pray For Parkland! The Valentine Tragedy!

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Radio Ruhaniyat!

Life is Precious! But is also unpredictable! We tend to take life for granted until we get caught in adversities beyond our control. Destiny sometimes places us in situations, which completely shake us up because we live with the notion that nothing can ever go wrong.

The Parkland School shooting on February 14, 2018, shook up all of us because the most unthinkable, happened in an area considered safest in the state. A young man chose to gun down students in a school and killed 17 people and injured many.

On a day when LOVE is celebrated, we all experienced HATE!

It was the one day in the year, when all hearts were booming with Love….and yet, someone managed to take it all away in a horrible manner.

What is it like to find yourself on the edge of life? How does one prepare oneself for the very last breath?

What goes through one’s mind at such moments? It’s unimaginable!

God made man in His own image! Have we really been able to live up to that image?

I was raised in India and my father used to be in the Indian Army. He used to be posted in different places so we weren’t with him all the time. We would see him every time he would get off from duty and would come back home every few months. Whenever he came back home, I had a tendency to be at my best. So I always made it a point to live up to his expectations regardless of whether I succeeded or not.

I was greatly influenced by his spirituality and immense faith in God. I gradually started relating to the fact that God is everywhere and wanted to be at my best, so I could live up to God’s expectations also. I developed my own world of being with God and would imagine Him watching me. So I tried not to do anything that He wouldn’t approve of, so that I could live up to Him also, just like I felt for my father. I would often fail but always felt confident that at least my attempts had a direction to focus on.

Today, when I look back, I realize how very important spirituality is in conditioning our minds towards righteousness. None of us are perfect. But it is only when we aim towards perfection, that we get somewhere.

It is the immense love and respect for God, based on which we fear to commit the wrong because we are constantly wanting to be at our best.....after all, God is watching!

When we know that someone is taking a picture or a video, we fix our hair, smile and start posing because we want to portray our best. God is like a 24/7 spiritual camera, which is constantly recording. Anything we do or say gets captured in God’s memory. Even our thoughts get captured like an xray. So, smile and be at your best, because you’re live on CAMERA-DIVINE!

It is when we lack the spiritual quotient; that we fail to see right from wrong. It is very important to have the wisdom to choose right from wrong. Just because our lives are not perfect, does not mean that we have to make other’s lives miserable!

We all live life; but how we live it, matters!

The amount of time and energy we spend on materialistic pleasures; fills up an entire life span. If we spent enough time and energy focused on Spirituality, we would develop a compassionate mind which lives in bliss all the time. The urge to hurt others is unimaginable because in spirituality, we are constantly trying to live up to God. He is the one who matters most. We wouldn’t do anything to harm others because we start recognizing everyone as a soul, which is part and parcel of the Universal Intelligence. We are children of the same one father who will not want us to hurt our own brothers and sisters.

A mind that has been enlightened by God’s awareness starts to live life in the contentment that whatever God does, is for the best. Such a mind gets relieved from anxiety and worry. God; who is everywhere becomes the world in which we breathe every moment. He becomes such a part of us that we cannot imagine doing anything that would be against God’s will.

It is spirituality that gives us a sound mind full of Godfidence. Lack of God’s awareness encourages us to indulge in wrong-doing.

We emphasize on educating our children to succeed in their careers. But we fail to educate our children spiritually so that they can develop a sound God-fearing mind. If we don’t practice spirituality, then we cannot be an example for our children. If we, as parents put spirituality on the back burner, we’ll soon find our children also putting spirituality on the back burner. This could eventually turn around and affect us the most because righteousness is not important enough to them.

17 people died in this tragedy and many injured. Valuable lives were lost, hearts shaken and families torn apart!

Prayers For Parkland! Our heart goes out to all affected and involved and pray that God blesses us with the virtue to Love all and serve unconditionally! After all there is only one religion in the world, and that is Humanity!!!

-Until next time, this is Preet Sahi reminding you to Stay Spiritual!
